It's a pleasure to meet you.
When I'm not designing awesome products, I can be found running some crazy long distance, on the tennis court, or in an Irish dance class.
For now, you can find me on LinkedIn.
How I got started in User Experience Design
I have dabbled in corporate communication and information design throughout my professional career, working closely with IT management to execute the strategy and deliver important messages to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
In my hybrid role as a UX Designer and Business Analyst, I aim to bridge the gap between people and technology. As I've explored ways to better reach my users, I discovered how the UX design process can help me understand people and process better, while also utilizing my communication and creative skills to design functional tools.
What I'm working on now
Delivering products with the end-user in mind is easier said than done. At my current company, we have historically been focused primarily on delivery, rather than research and design which has negatively impact user adoption.
Recently, there has been an increased interest in how UX design can ensure we develop products that are fit for purpose. As the department UX "Subject Matter Expert", I am working closely with product owners to establish design standards for our applications and train other Business Analysts in basic UX principles.
Why I'm curious
I love asking questions. Any question. All questions. Why do people do what they do? Why do they say what they say?And why do they do and say it like that?
When I was a kid, my mom said I was too nosy. To her amusement, I turned that habit into a profession in the form of business analysis and user experience design. The two are all about understanding people, why they behave the way the way they do, what motivates them, and how that aligns with business and technology.
I am proficient in a variety of tools.
I wear many hats and work closely with management
on strategic initiatives.
Lean IT Transformation
I am co-leading the department's lean IT transformation to embed lean behavior into the organization and optimize processes using lean tools and techniques.
I am a member of the IT innovation group to support a "grow and transform" vision to identify innovation opportunities and drive an innovation culture.
I design management reports and presentations to showcase department performance, projects, and strategy for consumption by senior stakeholders.
I like to study a lot, too.
